Job description
Overview
We are seeking a proactive, mid-level Cybersecurity Analyst to join our security operations team. In this role you will be a front-line defender—monitoring systems, detecting and triaging threats, and driving timely incident response. You will work closely with IT, engineering, and risk teams to reduce organizational risk and strengthen security posture.
The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with SIEM/EDR tools, vulnerability management, and incident response processes. You will help refine detection engineering, execute investigations, and implement remediation guidance to minimize impact and prevent recurrence.
Key Responsibilities
• Monitor security alerts from SIEM, EDR, IDS/IPS, and cloud security tools; triage and prioritize incidents based on risk and impact.
• Lead initial investigation and containment for security incidents, escalate appropriately, and coordinate remediation activities with IT and engineering teams.
• Perform log analysis, threat hunting, and root cause analysis using multiple telemetry sources (network, host, cloud, application).
• Manage vulnerability scanning, analyze results, validate findings, and work with owners to ensure timely remediation.
• Develop, maintain, and execute incident response playbooks, runbooks, and detection rules; continually refine detections to reduce false positives.
• Maintain accurate incident documentation, timelines, and post-incident reports; contribute to lessons-learned and process improvement.
• Support onboarding and tuning of security tooling (SIEM, EDR, vulnerability scanners, cloud security posture management).
• Provide security guidance and awareness to cross-functional teams; participate in tabletop exercises and threat modeling as needed.
• Track and report key security metrics and KPIs to inform leadership and drive decisions on risk reduction initiatives.
Required Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Security, Cybersecurity, or equivalent practical experience; or relevant military experience.
• 3+ years of professional experience in cybersecurity, security operations center (SOC), or incident response.
• Hands-on experience with SIEM (e.g., Splunk, Elastic, QRadar) and EDR/XDR platforms (e.g., CrowdStrike, SentinelOne, Carbon Black).
• Familiarity with vulnerability management tools (e.g., Nessus, Qualys) and patching/remediation workflows.
• Strong understanding of network protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP), operating systems (Windows, Linux), and common attack techniques (MITRE ATT&CK).
• Experience with incident response methodologies, forensic evidence preservation, and post-incident reporting.
• Scripting or automation skills (Python, Bash, PowerShell) to accelerate investigations and automate repetitive tasks.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills; able to explain technical issues to non-technical stakeholders.
• Relevant certifications preferred: CompTIA Security+, CEH, GIAC/GSEC, or AWS/Azure security certifications. CISSP is a plus.
Responsibilities
- Monitor security alerts from SIEM, EDR, IDS/IPS, and cloud security tools; triage and prioritize incidents based on risk and impact.
